| Thursday, October 30, 2008 | It seems like every day there's a new development in technology. Wasn't it just yesterday that 8-track tapes came out and then cassettes sent us soaring into the future?
Now we can get information on virtually anything over the internet, access our e-mail (that didn't even used to be a word!) from anywhere in the country, and send pictures of our grandkids using our cell phones. It's just fantastic.
And any business or organization that wants to be vital in this day and age has to try to keep up with these developments. Silent Blessings is no exception. Although we don't have the latest of anything (SMILE), we are trying to make contact and interaction with our supporters and those to whom we minister easier.
That's why we're beginning to do more and more things by e-mail. We send out our monthly prayer letter that way as well as our Insider supporters' newsletter. And now we're going to try to send as many of our former direct mail pieces to people using e-mail. This will not only be more efficient but should save us money on postage costs that continue to rise.
For those of us who are Baby Boomers, some of these changes may not come so easily, but at the same time it is just so exciting to think we can use the amazing technology of today to further the work of God's Kingdom. I can handle change if that's its purpose! |
