This is a busy week in Anderson, IN, where our offices are located. It's the annual North American Convention of the Church of God (Anderson IN). The building we are in houses their headquarters, so there's a lot of traffic in the halls, workshops going on throughout the building and in other locations in the vicinity, and friends gathering just to get caught up on what's new anywhere there's a couple of chairs where people can sit down for a few minutes to chat.
We decided to take advantage of this opportunity to have an open house so people could see our new offices, meet our staff, and watch an episode of Dr. Wonder's Workshop. Although we haven't had as many people visit us as we had hoped, we have met some wonderful people. There was the couple from Arkansas who are monthly supporters and were anxious to see our new offices. Then a grandma, mom and dad, and 3 children stopped in just to find Silent Blessings, because the oldest son had been to "Kids Place in the Silent City" a few years ago when Marshall and a number of other volunteers provided that experience. And we were visited bvy a family that had never heard a thing about Silent Blessings, but they had an interest in Deaf outreach and came to learn more.
It's been exciting to actually have face-to-face contact with people who have a love for the Deaf, just like we do. I pray that this brief contact with us this week will open doors for each of them, as well as a chance to collaborate with us. God has His people placed where He needs them to be, and I hope we can help them in their service to Him. |
